🧄 🧀 1. Garlic Mac & Cheese

Warm, comforting, and indulgent — our garlic mac and cheese is the kind of side that steals the spotlight.
Recipe (adapted from Just a Taste): Just a Taste
Ingredients:
- 1 head garlic
- Olive oil
- 1 lb pasta (cavatappi, shells, or rigatoni)
- 8 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 6 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 5 cups whole milk
- 5 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon mustard powder
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- Topping (optional):
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 3 Tbsp chopped chives
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to ~375°F (or appropriate for baking).
- Roast the garlic: Slice the top off the garlic head, drizzle with olive oil, wrap in foil, and roast until soft. Then squeeze out the garlic cloves and mash.
- Cook the pasta in salted water until just al dente, then drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour to make a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened.
- Add mashed roasted garlic, mustard powder, salt, and pepper. Then stir in the cheddar and Parmesan until melted and creamy.
- Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked pasta in a large baking dish.
- For the topping: melt butter, then mix in panko and chives, and sprinkle over the top.
- Bake until the top is golden and the sauce is bubbly (about 20–25 minutes).
🧀 2. Classic Stuffing (or Dressing)

Savory, herby, and timeless — stuffing is the warm hug of side dishes.
Recipe (inspired by Martha Stewart): Martha Stewart
Ingredients:
- 12 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 large onions, diced
- 16 celery stalks, diced
- ~10 sage leaves, chopped (or 2 tsp dried)
- 6 cups chicken or turkey stock
- 2 loaves stale white bread (about 36 slices), cut into 1″ cubes
- 2 tsp salt
- 4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 3 cups fresh flat-leaf parsley, chopped
- (Optional) 2 cups toasted pecans
- (Optional) 2 cups dried cherries
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F and butter a large baking dish.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and celery, cook until soft (~10 min). Then add the chopped sage and cook a few more minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine bread cubes, cooked onion/celery mixture, parsley, (optional pecans & cherries).
- Slowly pour in the stock, stirring to moisten but not saturate (you want it moist but not soggy). Season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer to the baking dish, cover loosely with foil, and bake 15 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake another 20–25 minutes, until top is crisp and golden.
🥔 3. Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Fluffy, buttery, and smooth — this is the sauce-sponge every Thanksgiving needs.
Recipe (Alex Guarnaschelli): Food Network
Ingredients:
- 4½ to 5 lbs Idaho potatoes, peeled and cut into 1″ chunks
- Salt (for boiling)
- Butter
- Milk (or cream)
- (Optional) Whipped cream or sour cream for fluff
Instructions:
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until very tender (test with a fork).
- Drain well, then return to warm pot. Mash gently.
- Warm milk (or cream) and butter in a separate pan, then gradually mix into the potatoes until you reach your desired creaminess.
- For an extra-rich texture, fold in a bit of whipped cream or sour cream just before serving.
🦃 4. Herb‑Roasted Turkey

The star of the Thanksgiving table — moist, aromatic, and beautifully golden.
Recipe (Food Network Herb-Roasted Turkey): Food Network
Ingredients:
- 10–12 lb turkey
- ¼ cup fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage, oregano) plus ~20 sprigs, divided
- 2 Tbsp canola oil
- 1 tsp salt + 1 tsp pepper
- Aromatics: 1½ cups of onion, apple, lemon, or orange (cut into 2″ pieces)
- 3 cups water (plus more if needed for the pan)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven. Pat the turkey dry, season cavity, and rub outside with oil, herbs, salt, and pepper. Use the whole sprigs for extra aroma.
- Place aromatics (onion, fruit, citrus) in the roasting pan beneath the turkey to infuse flavor and provide a base for pan drippings.
- Add water to the pan to keep moisture going during roast.
- Roast until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the thigh reaches ~165°F (or follow recipe instructions for weight-based timing).
- Let rest before carving to preserve juices.
🥧 5. Pumpkin Pie

Creamy, spiced, and nostalgic — the dessert everyone looks forward to.
Recipe (Nancy Fuller / From Scratch Pumpkin Pie): Food Network
Ingredients:
- 1 medium sugar pumpkin (~3 lb)
- Canola oil (to coat pumpkin)
- Pie crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ tsp salt
- 11 Tbsp cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- Cold water (to bind)
- Filling:
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup whipping cream
- 2 Tbsp cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp molasses
- 2 Tbsp canola oil
- 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 3 large eggs
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Halve the pumpkin, remove seeds, rub with oil, and roast cut-side down until fork tender. Let cool.
- While pumpkin roasts, make the crust: combine flour and salt, add cold butter and cut in until crumbly, then add cold water a little at a time until it comes together. Chill.
- Scoop out the roasted pumpkin flesh, purée it, and blend with condensed milk, cream, cornstarch, molasses, oil, spices, and eggs until smooth.
- Roll out the crust, line a 9″ pie pan, pour in the filling, and bake according to recipe (monitor for doneness — the filling should set but remain slightly wobbly in the center).
- Let pie cool before serving.
🍏 6. Apple Pie Pastries

Flaky, cinnamon-scented, and effortlessly timeless — a warm finish to your Thanksgiving menu.
Recipe (Adapted classic apple pie):
Since there are many great versions, here’s a well-rounded one based on time-tested traditions + some of the most recommended approaches (pie crust from scratch + apple filling):
Ingredients:
- Crust and Filling
- 4 Cups Apples (Peeled, Cored and Diced)
- Juice of 1 Lemon
- Sugar
- 1/3 Cup Corn Starch
- Cinnamon
- Salt
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
- 1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 tsp All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Sheet Puff Pastry
- 1 Egg (Lightly Beaten)
- 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 2 tbsp Milk
Instructions:
1. Place apples in bowl and mix with lemon juice. Set aside.
2. Place 3 cups of water, 1 1/3 cups of sugar, cornstarch, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp of salt, and nutmeg in saucepan over medium heat. Stir to combine and bring mix to boil for about 2 minutes. Add apples without lemon juice and cover for 5 minutes.
3. Remove lid and stir often, until apples soften.
4. Pour into jar and set aside (mixture will thicken as it cools).
5. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
6. In bowl, stir brown sugar, flour and 1 tsp of cinnamon. Set aside.
7. On flour dusted surface, unfold puff pastry and form rectangle.
8. Using knife, cut slits along the sides of pastry about an inch apart, making sure to leave roughly 5 inches in the middle uncut. Add apple pie mixture in the middle, and sprinkle sugar mixture over top.
9. Fold the half-inch edge of dough over the filling. Then fold the first strip on the right over the filling at a slight angle. Fold the first strip on the left over the filling, overlapping the first strip. Continue folding strips of dough from alternate sides to form a braided pattern. When you get to the top, fold the edge of the dough over the filling, tucking it under the braided strips.
10. Carefully transfer pastry to baking sheet.
11. Lightly brush egg mixture over pastry. Allow to bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Set aside to cool.
12. Make frosting by mixing powdered sugar, vanilla and milk.
13. Cut pastry to smaller pieces and top with frosting.
